🤖 Tech that makes you ask, why?
There was a moment in high school where I stood there in the hallway (probably should’ve been in class) and realized my high school years were going to be some of the best years of my life.
Now it’s not to say that I “peaked” in high school - I mean who actually admits that…publicly… in their own newsletter 😅
But moreso, it was one of those rare moments where your self awareness is heightened and you’re living in the moment, realizing it will all be over at some point. If you’re a parent, I think you get these moments more often than when you’re a 17 year old idiot.
Realizing that these were going to be some of the best years of my life, I made it a point to enjoy every moment in high school, take advantage of my time there, and truly try and remember everything. This is why when my kids ask about my experience in school, I can give them so many different, vivid stories.
However we grew up in a time in the early 2000’s when camera phones were just becoming a thing but everyone still used digital cameras, even though they didn’t necessarily carry them everywhere they went like they were Instagram influencers.
And so I have just a handful of stupid photos, that I suppose defined a bit of how I felt about high school?

Whether you’ve lived through them already or not, we all have our golden eras. With the world going through practically the exact same thing a few years ago, I think it’s safe to say no one considers the last few years to be a component of their golden era.
I think we’re in the byproduct era of the past few years, where the years aren’t exactly the most exciting but definitely don’t seem like the worst anymore either.
Late last year a study was done in the US about rating the year 2024 out of 10. The average of the responses rated last year a 6.1, which I agree with. It wasn’t a great year, but it showed a lot of signs of life to build momentum up in 2025.
And if you’re really curious about how 2025 will turn out, now’s the time to check out your Chinese zodiac horoscope.
I stumbled on this woman during a late night YouTube rabbit hole - it was almost like YT knew to serve me up an infomercial for my Chinese horoscope.
Golf: Finally Not Boring to Watch
If there was ever a sport that is more fun to play than to watch, it’s golf. It’s not to say there isn’t a good chunk of people out there who like watching the sport but let’s be honest, no one is asking you to go watch the 3rd round of the Sony Open at a bar this Saturday.
Now you may want to start venturing out to the bars on Monday and Tuesday nights when the TMRW Golf League (TGL) plays its matches.
Created by TMRW Ventures (Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s sports venture), the TGL is basically what you get when you combine screen golf with “tech infused” putting and chipping greens, all within a specialized stadium.
But what is the TGL?
⛳️ Six teams of 4 golfers, essentially the top 24 golfers across the PGA
⛳️ Each match consists of:
Triples play, 3 golfers from each team go head to head in 6 holes
Singles play, 1 v 1, 2 holes each for 6 holes
⛳️ Golfers start each hole by hitting into a screen 24x the size of a regular simulator screen
⛳️ Once they reach with 50 yards digitally of the hole, they move over to the tech infused “green zone” that pinpoints where the ball would’ve landed based on where it was hit on the screen and play picks up from there.
⛳️ Holes are worth 1 point for winning, each match consisting of 15 random holes
⛳️ There’s a 40 second shot clock, referees, and a towel thing they can throw in to make their hole worth 2 points, amongst other “new” rules
⛳️ They play in this one of a kind stadium, built specifically for the league
The green area can all be rotated and customized with slopes and dips as need be
Players hit off of real grass, fairway, and sand depending on where their shot lands as they hit into the screen
There’s a totally different vibe to how golf is played within the TGL. You may want to give golf another chance. The first match was held on Tuesday. The next one is this Tuesday.
NGL - this looks like a lot of fun to watch.
Adulting McDonald’s Style
There was a moment in your life where it was the last time you met up with your childhood friends to play and just be kids. Y’know that meme picture with all the bikes outside of the house - that was you.
There’s also a moment in your life where you had your last Happy Meal.
And no, I don’t want to hear that you buy Happy Meals as snacks or because you want the cute little Hello Kitty toy - that doesn’t count. I’m talking about getting a Happy Meal because it’s going to satisfy your 7 year old hunger - not your 37 year old hunger.
ICYMI: McDonald’s released adult Happy Meals a couple years ago. It was a basically a Big Mac or 10-piece nugget meal in a fancy box with one of these guys:
Lowkey I thought this was for kids still, I just wondered why they were pushing a bigger meal at kids…actually I didn’t wonder, I just figured, “oh, they’re not even trying to hide trying to make kids fat lol”. Okay, that’s too harsh, we all love(d) McDonalds.
However, I do have a bone to pick with this company, on behalf of my wife. I guarantee you missed this too, so you should also be angry. Back in October McD’s released their latest adult Happy Meal that was for the 30th anniversary of Friends.
The most popular sitcom in the history of sitcoms…and it wasn’t released in North America.
Spain got this limited edition Happy Meal. No offense to Spain but, why?
As expected, you can buy this all on eBay, including the full set for $1000.
It’s bad enough the McD’s app disappoints every time I use it, they’ve now disappointed my wife.
My wife: “Stupid Canada, it’s time to move.”
…I suppose a certain Prime Minister could b-….I’ll stop, don’t talk about politics, don’t talk about politics.
Pointless Tech You Might Actually Buy
During your doom scrolling this week there is a high likelihood you came across some sort of technology innovation that you really didn’t understand, thought it was going to take over the world, or considered it completely pointless. Yes, CES took place this week in Las Vegas.
As much as CES tends to debut some really cool and really useful technology, you’re bound to see stuff that just makes you raise an eyebrow and simply wonder, WHY??
Let’s take a look at a few of these technological wonders pointless things.
LG’s Side Table Garden Light
If you’re all about a certain kind of aesthetic then maybe this is for you? But what happens when the flowers start to GROW GROW - this is not a table, don’t tell me this is a side table, LG.
Phone Toaster
By Swippitt, this toaster looking thing actually swaps out a battery when you stick your phone inside. It’s actually one big charger with multiple batteries where you use their specialized phone case and it swaps the battery in and out of the case. If this isn’t the most extra phone charger in the world, I don’t know what is.
Mirumi, the shy companion bot (lol)
C’mon man. Someone sat in a conference room somewhere with someone else and said, SHY SLOTH ROBOT…and it’ll clip to a purse. This is Mirumi by Yukai Engineering, where for $70 you can get one of these things in pink or grey. It’s got motion sensors in it that makes it turn away when someone gets close, mimicking it being shy. How long ‘til we see random influencers walking around with these things on their handbags?
