The Pope's new whip

Whether you like it or not, the music you listen to you defines your life’s eras.

From all the random stuff you listened to as a kid - most of which is probably because of your parents - to the point where you developed your own taste in your teenage years and beyond, music made an impact on the eras of your life.

In elementary school I enjoyed a mix of rap, RnB, and rock music.

In grade 9 I remember trying for days to download Blue by Eiffel 65.

Towards the end of highschool I was a punk emo kid, obsessed with Taking Back Sunday.

In university I became obsessed with the rap scene in NYC, a lot of Dipset, a lot of JR Writer, a lot of Papoose. Damn - if you know what I’m talking about, how does this not inspire you to go listen right now??

When I went into the corporate world hip hop stuck, with dabblings of rock and punk.

Funny story - before I had a car I’d be bussing it to work everyday. I remember listening to The Carter III standing at the bus stop one day as it rained and watching a car speed through a puddle forming a tsunami wave that crashed on everyone at the bus stop.

It was only 8:15 in the morning.

These days my kids and my wife rule my music - I know because this was my Spotify Unwrapped:

With all this talk about Drake suing Universal for using bots and buying streams, etc. etc. and Spotify being in on the action, I don’t know how much I believe these are my “top artists”.

I’ve lost all control over my Spotify algorithm.

Although I definitely know I listened to a lot of Sho…

The Future Huts that Serve Pizza

Did you really think when Pizza Hut said, “Nobody out pizza’s the hut” that they were joking around??

In a world where pizza might be the most saturated market in the restaurant business, Pizza Hut has stood the test of time - from the classic branded lamp shades hanging over the tables that I’d hit my head on, to the classic red tumbler cups filled to the brim with what always tasted like a sweeter version of Pepsi, to this:

When you can smell the picture

Pizza Hut has been the Valentine’s Day tradition for my wife and I for 13+ years now and we ain’t stopping! We also don’t actually celebrate Valentine’s Day, so we use Pizza Hut as the tradition.

I digress.

In the not so distant future you might be walking into Pizza Hut wondering wtf happened to the cozy booths and 90’s themed carpets. This is because they’re currently piloting the “Hut of the Future” in Plano, Texas.

It’s about damn time you can order pizza through a drive-thru.

The elevated Pizza Hut experience (haha I know right?) will include:

  • An open kitchen concept so you can see all that greasy pizza being made right before your eyes.

  • Ordering kiosks like you see at McDonalds (only a matter of time until the screens get greasy like your N64 controllers)

  • Contactless cabinets so you can grab your pizza and leave (!)

  • And a drive thru with their all new “Hut n Go” menu

The Pope’s G-Wagon Upgrade

I was today year’s old when I found out the Pope rides around in a G-Wagon aka the Popemobile. For some odd reason I always thought it was just a white car, modified for him to stand up in with bullet proof glass.

Which really reminds me of the car of the future 😏

The Popemobile has been officially electrified. Mercedes Benz custom designed and handcrafted a G-Class EV specifically for Pope Francis as he rides around for the Jubilee in Rome next year.

With the classic open concept in the back, the custom G-Wagon comes equipped with a swivel chair and hard top for inclimate weather.

Benz has been making cars for the Vatican for 94 years now and for the last 45 years, the Pope has been using the Popemobile, which has been based on the Mercedes G-Class.

What’s special about the latest Popemobile is that it’s an EV. No more gas guzzling G-Wagons for His Holiness. Given this car is a one of one, custom built to be only used by the Pope, and gifted to the Pope, it’s hard to say what the price tag is on the car. That said, other Popemobile’s have been auctioned off between $80K-$300K.

Part of me thinks because it’s custom built that it should be worth a lot more than $300K but then what exactly does one use a car like this for outside of driving super slow waving to people?

The more I look at the latest Popemobile, the more I’m getting flashes of bass pro fishermen starring in their own rap video.

Tell me you see it too…

Should We Be Worried About the NBA?

With all the talk in the offseason around broadcast rights and the $76B agreement reached with the likes of Amazon, ESPN/ABC, and NBC for next season, the current 28% decline in ratings on ESPN can’t be giving Amazon and NBC a good feeling about what they paid for next season.

Now granted, November is always one of the slowest months in the season and the NBA cup quarterfinals are just around the corner next week so things should start to pick up again. HOWEVER - there’s another cause to be concerned.

The dunkers aren’t dunking.

Just ask Ja Morant…

This is Anthony Edwards in the Netflix Starting 5 special:

Now I get it - no one wants to get injured while trying to leap over people. But does it need to be some death defying jump every time? I’m looking at you, Ja Morant.

According to Ranker.com these are the top 5 dunkers in the NBA currently:

Ja Morant (4(!) dunks in 12 games)

Anthony Edwards (9(!) dunks in 21 games)

Zion Williamson (7 dunks in 6 games)

Giannis Antetokounmpo (76 dunks in 19 games)

Aaron Gordon (12 dunks in 10 games)

At this point they might as well create a 4 point line given guys would much rather live beyond the 3pt line anyway. Or maybe the dunk competition during NBA All-Star weekend will make up for all of this.

HAHAHAHAHAHA (ya right…)
