The Cleanest Public Washrooms EVER

When I was a kid I had a friend in my neighbourhood who went to the public school beside my school (the catholic school). Our lunch times were slightly off, with mine being about half an hour before theirs, which was why it was odd to see him running down the sidewalk past me as I was walking home at lunch one day.

“Where are you going? It’s not lunch time.

I need to poo, I’m not using those dirty washrooms (pointing at the school)”

Truthfully this was partially why I went home for lunch insteading of staying to eat in class with the majority of everyone else. School washrooms were disgusting in the 90’s. That and I became engulfed in the Sailor Moon love story - it was the only show on during lunchtime besides TSN’s Off The Record, and a bunch of random business/news shows.

I don’t profess to be a public washroom aficionado BUT this is my list of some of the nicest public washrooms I’ve ever been in:

  1. Fallsview Casino in Niagara Falls

  2. Venetian Casino in Macao

  3. Prime Seafood Palace in Toronto

  4. Narita Airport in Tokyo

If your washroom has a privacy button, it’s going to be clean

In 1988 “Oto-Hime” or the “Sound Princess” button was invented for Japanese women who were ashamed of the sounds coming out of them as they sat on the toilet. Where they would traditionally run water or flush the toilet while they did their thing, now they could mask their sounds in a less wasteful way with music.

This past week I discovered the Bemis Antimicrobial toilet seat. In looking into this toilet seat further, I discovered Bemis is actually a leading brand in the toilet world - who knew? At any rate, this particular seat has an antimicrobial property inhibiting the growth of bacteria and mold on your toilet seat. It also has a slow close function that everyone in the reviews at Home Depot love - I mean, you ever get your finger caught between the toilet and the seat? IT HURTS.

Why am I telling you this, you ask? Because according to the internet you should be changing your toilet seat every 5 years!

The only bald guys I trust are Michael Jordan, Dominic Toretto, and Mr. Clean

Your Second Chance At “Sports”

The Olympics start next Friday so you’ll get your little rundown then, meanwhile the IOC announced this month that the inaugural Olympic Esports Games will be taking place in 2025 in Saudi Arabia. Yup, that’s right, your dreams of being an olympic athlete have just been reborn…perhaps on Rebirth Island.

In 2023 the IOC held what they called the Olympic Esports Series Finals in Singapore. The held ten events that were supposed to mirror actual Olympic sports. Among the sports were the likes of sailing, motor car racing, shooting, dancing, and well, a few others. I’d love to tell you this was exciting and that the games were fun but most of these games you’ve probably never heard of nor would want to play. For instance, sailing:

They should’ve also raced planes with Flight Simulator and watched grass grow with Farm Simulator.

They ended up having exhibition competitions with Rocket League and Just Dance, which I guess made up for the WHACK games they chose. Baseball has always been an official Olympic sport so you would think they would pick a popular baseball game that the whole world plays but nope, they picked some bootleg Wii Sports version of baseball called Baseball Power Pros.

Perfectly good games that could’ve been used for Olympic sports:

FIFA - soccer
Skate 3 - skateboarding
NBA2K - basketball
Top Spin Tennis - tennis
PGA Tour 2K - golf
MLB The Show - baseball

I love how when I asked ChatGPT to give me mirrored video games to Olympic events it gave me WWE 2K for wrestling. NOT THAT KIND OF WRESTLING DUMMY! Also, is it me or is the solution to just have the “athletes” play Mario & Sonic at the Olympic games??

Bowser def needs randomized drug testing

True eSports enthusiasts know unless they’re going to throw in a game like Street Fighter or Super Smash, this won’t be a real video game Olympics. The games have yet to be announced for 2025 but best believe, if Super Smash is announced, I’m making the Canadian Olympic team!

What Are We Rockin’ This Summer?

We’re already almost done July which means we’re already halfway through summer. Which means you have like a month or two left to rock those summer shoes before the fall and crap weather subsequently destroys them.

WEAR 👏YOUR👏SHOES

Here’s what I’ve been seeing a lot of:

Nike Air Force 1 in white

Do I like them? Meh, sure? I think these shoes look nicer on women than they do on men. I’ve never been a fan of Air Force’s so you’ll never find me wearing them, they seem clunky in men’s sizes, much sleeker in women’s. Technically a shoe for all seasons, although who doesn’t like a good pair of white kicks in the summer?

When you don’t know what Nike’s to wear, these are it (apparently)

New Balance 550

Do I like them? Nope. There must’ve been a fire sale on these shoes or SOMETHING. Why does the entire world wear them? I must admit I’ve never seen a New Balance shoe that I liked so this isn’t exactly the best shoe to highlight for the summer. But they’re everywhere! If you were looking for a shoe to fit in with the masses, this would be it.

Get you a pair of baggy jeans and these shoes and you’re set

Adidas Samba

Do I like them? Hell yeah, these are classics. Who doesn’t like Sambas? This silhouette has stood the test of time forever and probably always will. Sambas were all the rage last summer but they haven’t lost steam. Given they’re Adidas’ second best selling shoe of all time (guess what is #1), I wouldn’t expect anything less from Adidas. The below version, by Japanese brand Neighborhood, is what I’ve wanted for years now.

I’ve wanted these shoes for years

Lastly, I’m not seeing these much at all anymore. I’ve got a pair myself but they were so elusive to get when they came out like 10 years ago. But Flyknit Racers are, IMO, the BEST summer shoe you could ever rock.

Like right now fr fr

Did You Miss Prime Day?

I guess a better question is, do you even shop on Amazon? If you do then you probably took advantage of some sort of sale on Prime Day this week, especially since Prime Day is actually two days - maybe it’s time to change the name, Amazon?

Here’s what you potentially either took advantage of, missed out on, or could care less about:

The top selling items on Amazon mainly consisted of electronics such as Apple Airpods, Samsung TV’s, and numerous Amazon electronics.

Home and kitchen lead by Dyson, which had a ton of different discounted offerings, was also one of the most popular categories for Prime Day.

Beauty and Personal Care brands saw insane volumes purchased lead by Sol De Janiero, TruSkin, and ALOHA.

If you missed the sale days this week go check Amazon still as a bunch of sales are still boiling over into the end of the week. OR go search the products up that you wanted on other sites. The common practice now is as Amazon throws a ton of stuff on sale, all of its competition also puts the the same products out on sale as well.

So technically Prime Day just means everyone is running sales now 🤷‍♂️
