Luxury is coming for SKATE shoes
End of summer BLOKECORE

This Week in Dulture…
Approx 4 minute read:
📺️ Move over The Office
🛹 Fancy Skate Shoes
⚽️ Jerseys you need
🎵 Coldplay still slaps
Dulture weekly mix
Listen to the beginning of this mix and tell me it doesn’t feel like you’re in the beginning of a Stranger Things episode. Or a 1989 Nintendo game - either/or.
Annnnnnd we’re back.
And it’s that time of year where you look forward to new TV shows!
Wait, does that actually still happen? Remember when September was the month where they’d switch up the timing of TV shows, add new ones, new seasons would start, and TV WAS EXCITING??

WTF happened to TV man.
I started and finished the entire final season of Succession on my flight back home from Asia and well, I wish I didn’t.
I don’t watch a ton of TV (ironic for a guy who writes about culture weekly, I know) because I just don’t have the time to binge through shows to stay up to date. I also kind of wish there was a waiting period between episodes.
Yes, yes, I know. Some series’ will have a staggered release so you do wait a bit but still, it just doesn’t feel the same as it used to. Heck, it’s September and NO ONE is talking about new TV shows.
Maybe they should bring back TV Guides…
Oh wait…

Need to throw this on an iPad and then get it stuck in the couch
OK OK OK. Rant over.
Last night I watched the first episode of The Paper, a new TV show and official spinoff of The Office. Was it any good? Surprisingly yes, actually. Although I kept trying to match old characters on The Office to the characters on The Paper.
Like, who’s the new Jim, who’s the new Dwight, etc. Frankly, it feels like there’s a few characters who can be Dwight. There’s also a character where they blended Creed and Stanley together - super hilarious.
If you liked The Office, you will like The Paper. Streaming on Peacock or wherever you get your illegal streaming from.
Skate Shoe’s Luxury Moment
The other day I was reminiscing about all the skate shoes I used to have like 20 years ago that I wish I still had today.
But you don’t care about that. You care about what shoes are getting their luxury shine right now.
WELL IMMA TELL YOU.
It all started with Vans’ Old Skool shoe which was inspired by Chanel’s On the Pavement messenger bag from 2014. This:

Which inspired this:

Vans Old Skool Souvenir
Which is now being resold for somewhere around $400 on StockX.
In a recent Men’s Spring 2026 fashion show with Prada, they came out with a canvas shoe that basically looks like the Vans Authentic without them saying it.

And from a recent Dior fashion show, models were rocking these shoes which basically look like Vans without the branding:

There’s a bunch of talk around the fashion world of vulcanized shoes making a come back this year, which is the common usual process when a skate shoe is made. (it protects it and makes it more durable)
Vans is now predicted to blow up all over again in 2026 - people gonna be trading in their Sambas for Old Skool’s.
Personally I just want eS to bring back the K3, aka the Jordans of skate shoes.

And They Called it, “Blokecore”
I don’t know about you but this was the summer of seeing people wear jerseys, like jerseys of any kind over the place.
In Asia, it was so common to see people, especially girls, wearing football / soccer jerseys either from actual teams or just random made up logos with nice colours.
Turns out this was the summer of Blokecore
Yup, a fashion trend based on early 2000’s soccer style where you rock a jersey, baggy pants, retro shoes, and call it a day. I guess this is kinda like Y2K style in some sense…which is also going through its moment currently.

This past summer Liverpool did a massive roll out of their brand new Adidas kit. I went to several malls in both Japan and Hong Kong where there was very large Liverpool displays with the jerseys.
But Liverpool isn’t the only club with a cool jersey, y’know.
Soccer jerseys are great because you can sweat in them and it feels normal since they’re specifically designed to be sweat in. So here’s some more that you can rock, get sweaty, and no one will think twice:
FC Bayern 25/26 Third Jersey

I’ve always wanted a Bayern Munich jersey - they always seem to put out a very stylish kit - the details on the collar and sleeve are beyond what any other club are doing right now. Also they tend to be my team in Fifa so there’s that as well.
Real Madrid 25/26 Away Jersey

When Beckham went to Real Madrid way back when, I wanted a Real Madrid jersey. I can’t remember a kit they put out where it wasn’t so clean, including this one.
CR Flamengo 25 Third Jersey

When I say soccer jerseys are great to wear because they’re stylish, I really mean it. You can rock this one with anything and it would look solid - the best jerseys are by far the most simplest ones.
FC Barcelona 25/26 Away Jersey

I’m at odds because I want both of these Barcelona kits. The beige one has Kobe’s Mamba logo on it, so unique! And the black one I saw in Asia and contemplated for a split second and now fully regret hesitating - ugh such great jerseys.
England 25 Women’s Team Away Jersey

I think I need this one. Although it reminds me a bit of the Barcelona jersey, I’ve yet to own an England jersey since Nike took over the licensing from Umbro. This is what I’m talking about when I say the simplest jerseys look the nicest.
A Random Coldplay Review
The truth is I started writing this on the plane coming back home from Hong Kong as I rekindled my love of this album on the flight. Then I contemplated not sharing it here because who wants a review of an album that came out in 2005?

But have you listened to Coldplay’s X&Y album?
I thought after A Rush of Blood to the Head, Coldplay had peaked. HAHAHA I know, I’m an idiot, it’s okay.
I figured there’s no way their music would evolve from the melancholy, melodramatic, guitar piano combo playing music they gave us in their first 2 albums. I was obviously wrong.
I remember walking into HMV, not even planning on buying the album, but I guess the display was too good in the store and picked up the CD and purchased it.
I will tell you right now, X&Y is one of those rare albums you can play from beginning to end and it’s enjoyable all the way through. Whether you’re listening intensely to every lyric or you just have it on in the background, it works for every occasion.
I used to nap to this album after working all day on Sundays. It even works for naps!
I won’t go into grave detail because I’m sure you’ve heard a ton of the tracks throughout the years like, “Fix You”, “Speed of Sound”, and my personal nap favourite, “What If”.
If you’ve never listened to a Coldplay album before, this is an excellent one to start with. Then go listen to A Rush of Blood to the Head, and then listen to whatever TF you want because I stopped listening to them after X&Y.
I swear the album is really good! 😭
