An 'OK' Halloween Issue

We could see flying cars next year

A week from today it will be November, which means the Christmas stuff will be out in full force everywhere.

This also means we need to talk about Halloween today.

I kinda wish I could talk about a new Halloween film for this year but apparently Michael Myers really died in Halloween Ends. I mean, if you’re gonna call the movie that, it better actually end otherwise you’re gonna have to come out with a sequel - Halloween, Again (sorry, we lied).

Buuuuuut there’s talks about the franchise creating a “Halloween Universe” with a TV show and eventual reboot film. So yeah, Halloween is never ending.

TV show idea: A day in the life of Michael Myers

OK OK OK - instead let’s get into candy.

When you think of Halloween candy, what’s the first one that comes to mind?

Is it this?

Or is it this?

All I know is it better not be this:

Nobody likes these candies - do not hand them out.

And definitely don’t hand out cans of RC Cola or packets of hot chocolate - there was this one house as a kid. You know what I’m talking about - that ONE house that always handed out the most whack stuff. Like, here you go, you look like you need a notepad and a pencil. Or enjoy some OVALTINE - bruh.

This week's issue is a 3 minute read:

🚁 We almost have flying cars

Meet George Jetson…

The Jetsons made no sense whatsoever but I guess that was the point - they lived so far in the future that you could believe anything was possible, including flying cars. The crazy part was that the show took place in 2062, so basically 38 years from now.

Are we going to be doing this in 38 years?

Also George Jetson was born in 2022 so there’s a 2 year old Jetson out there somewhere right now that will be zipping around in a flying plane-car thing in 38 years.

Speaking of flying plane car things…

In the US, federal aviation regulators have now issued their final rule for operating electric-powered air taxis. What’s an air taxi you ask? This…

The propellers face forward as its flying

They’re basically like planes in a sense that they fly similar to fixed wing planes moving forward with the propellers facing the direction it’s moving in, but they take off and land vertically like a helicopter, so the propellers adjust to a vertical position to enable the aircraft to go up and down in one spot.

Joby is one of the main players in the space.

Airlines see these aircraft as a way to drop passengers off to airports. So basically, you take a mini plane to then fly on the bigger plane. Given the size limitations of these air taxis at the moment, they truly are essentially being dubbed flying cars.

As with most things in life, initial operations will most likely be taken place by wealthy people who can afford this kind of luxury. As production of these air taxis ramps up, ride sharing is expected to the first use case alongside private flight for those who don’t mind paying premium prices to fly.

It’s expected that you’ll be able to call one of these taxis in the UAE via a ride sharing service in 2026 and then it’s expected we’ll see these things flying around a bit more commonly around the LA 2028 Olympics.

I look forward to the day I can sit in air traffic and swear at all the dumb drivers pilots.

A Scammer’s Dream Tech

You ever watch those scammer YouTube videos where it’s the really smart computer guy with a voice changer talking to a scammer in India?

These are so fun to watch LOL

The thing about the scams that YouTubers like Scammer Payback go through is that the scammer usually asks to take control of their screen in order to then manipulate something on screen, like a bank account or purchase of a gift card or something.

The idea is then that the scammer makes it look like the YouTuber’s bank account was adjusted and that they “refunded” too much money back into the account and so now the YouTuber has to follow their VERY specific instructions and send the money back - meanwhile no money was ever exchanged in the first place so the scammer is essentially asking you to send free money.

WELL. This week Anthropic, makers of the popular AI model, Claude, released Claude 3.5 Sonnet, which allows developers to give the AI access to their computer to effectively do functions that it’s told to do automatically. Giving it instructions like scroll over there and open a window or test this code for me or “do this function and then that function” are all possible with this latest update.

This essentially means the AI can take over your computer and perform tasks as if it was you. Now, the Claude team has put in place some safety measures to ensure that the AI doesn’t do what it’s not instructed to do or access things it isn’t instructed to access but let’s be real for a second, you don’t think there’s a call center in India right now playing around with this capability trying to automate how streamline their scams with AI?

What’s the over/under on when an AI officially calls to scam us?

A Moment for MSCHF

You know how when you see fashion shows you just wonder, “Who TF is actually going to wear that?” and then you never actually see it anywhere - perhaps because you’re too poor or not cultured enough, but that’s besides the point! (hahaha we’re all too poor, it’s okay)

But really, like when MSCHF released those big red boots and the internet puked all over itself with photos of people wearing them.

Or when they did the shoes where it makes you look like you’re wearing your shoes backwards?

Or even the sandals that look like the boot you wear when your foot is broken

Suffice to say, MSCHF is out there when it comes to fashion. Their website is a pretty cool reflection of them as a brand though. This week, in collaboration with Fred again, MSCHF just released an innovative t-shirt that changes as you move in and out of the sun.

You’ll never lose dancing with this shirt (HA HA HA … )

The tees will be available at https://cloud-tee.com/ in about 4 days if you’re reading this when Dulture normally comes out Friday mornings. Would you get one of these t-shirts for $80 USD?
